Linear Gas Fire Tables

A linear gas fire table stretches the flame along a long, narrow burner, so everyone around a sofa or sectional gets the same view of the fire and the same warmth. It also leaves room on both sides of the burner for drinks and plates, which makes it the most practical shape for patios where people sit and talk for hours.

How to choose a linear fire table

• Height: chat height (about 20–25 in.) for sofas and lounge chairs; dining height (about 30 in.) if you want to eat around the fire.
• Length: allow roughly 24 in. of table edge per person. A 54-in. table suits 4 people, 60–65 in. suits 6, and 80 in. or more seats 6–8 for dining.
• Fuel: propane is plug-and-play with a 20 lb tank in the base; natural gas needs a gas line run by a licensed installer but never runs out.
• Material: Supercast concrete tops (Cove, Key Largo, and Cedar Ridge in a grey-wash cedar look) are the most modern; the wood-look Kenwood and wicker-look Montego suit traditional patios.
