Bromic Tungsten vs Platinum comes down to two questions: how much heat you need, and how much you want to see the heater. The Tungsten gives you more watts per dollar and an industrial look. The Platinum costs more, but it is slimmer, glows less and mounts closer to the ceiling. Both are electric, silent and fume-free, so both work on covered and semi-enclosed patios.
This guide compares the two Bromic Smart-Heat electric lines we sell, with our current prices and the specs from each product page. As a result, you can pick a model and a wattage in one read.

Prices by wattage
All prices include free freight in the lower 48. First, the Bromic Tungsten:
- 2000W, up to 65 sq ft: $798
- 3000W, up to 100 sq ft: $958
- 4000W, up to 130 sq ft: $991
- 6000W, up to 160 sq ft: $1,161
Next, the Bromic Platinum in black:
- 2300W, up to 65 sq ft: $1,527
- 3400W, up to 108 sq ft: $2,194
- 4500W, up to 143 sq ft: $2,761
The Platinum in white costs $1,658, $2,379 and $2,936 for the same three outputs. So for about 130 sq ft, a Tungsten 4000W costs $991, while a Platinum 4500W costs $2,761. That gap is the price of the design.
Where each one works best
Choose the Tungsten for open and semi-enclosed patios
The Tungsten has the widest range of outputs, up to 6000W. Its honeycomb fascia is Bromic's signature look, and the adjustable bracket lets you aim the heat at the seats. Because of that, it suits larger covered patios, pool cabanas and outdoor bars where raw coverage matters most. It also gives off a soft red glow, which some people like and others notice.
Choose the Platinum for low ceilings and design-led spaces
The Platinum was built for semi-enclosed rooms with low clearance. According to its spec sheet, the minimum clearance is 72 inches on a wall and 96 inches on a ceiling. In addition, it can sit flush in the ceiling with the optional recess kit. The low-glare glow means it does not light up the room at night. For example, it fits pergolas, balconies and covered terraces with light ceilings, especially in the white finish.
Running cost and wiring
Every model in both lines is hardwired at 220 to 240V, so plan a dedicated circuit with your electrician before you order. The rated current runs from 8.3A (Tungsten 2000W) to 25A (Tungsten 6000W). The Platinum ranges from 9.6A to 18.8A.
Running cost follows the wattage, not the brand line. For instance, at $0.17 per kWh a 3000W heater costs about $0.51 per hour at full power. To check your own rate, multiply the heater kW by your price per kWh. If you want to dial the heat down on mild nights, add a Smart-Heat dimmer or on/off controller.
Bromic Tungsten vs Platinum: common questions
Are both heaters safe under a covered patio?
Yes, as long as you keep the clearances on the spec sheet. Both are electric, so there is no flame and no fumes. Also, both are listed for covered and semi-enclosed spaces.
Can I plug either heater into a wall outlet?
No. Every model is hardwired at 220 to 240V. Therefore, a licensed electrician should run the circuit.
Which one is warmer?
Watt for watt, they deliver similar heat. However, the Tungsten goes up to 6000W, while the Platinum stops at 4500W. So for the largest areas, the Tungsten has the edge.
Does the Platinum come with a longer warranty?
The Platinum carries Bromic's 3-year warranty. For the Tungsten, check the warranty terms on the product page or ask us before you order, because terms can change by model year.
Which one should you buy?
- Tungsten 3000W or 4000W if you heat a typical 10 by 10 foot seating area and want the best price.
- Tungsten 6000W if the area is large or exposed to wind.
- Platinum 2300W or 3400W if the ceiling is low, the space is semi-enclosed, or you want little visible light.
- Platinum white if the heater mounts on a light pergola, awning or ceiling.
